About the Tour
Day 1: Cusco – Ollantaytambo – Hydroelectric – Aguas Calientes .
The first day of the Machu Picchu bus tour begins with pickup between 7:00 and 7:30 am from Cusco for a 6.5-hour trip. During the trip, you’ll make two stops to reach Hidroeléctrica. First, you’ll make a 10- to 15-minute stop at Ollantaytambo, where you can purchase water and/or snacks. Then, you’ll ascend to the Málaga Pass, where you’ll admire the beautiful landscape of the high Andes with snow-capped peaks. Then, you’ll descend through the high jungle, passing through towns like Santa María until you reach Santa Teresa. There, you’ll make your second stop (40 minutes), where you’ll have time for lunch. Afterward, you’ll continue to Hidroeléctrica, where you’ll begin a two-and-a-half-hour hike (mostly flat) to reach Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu’s town). From the hydroelectric plant, you can also take a train (25 minutes) if you don’t want to walk, but this costs an extra US$35 (95% of people walk). Upon arriving in Aguas Calientes and settling into your accommodation, you’ll have a little free time to rest or visit the hot springs (admission fee S/15). Afterward, we’ll have dinner, where you’ll be given all the instructions for the following day (overnight).Day 2: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Hydroelectric – Cusco .
Second and last day of the tour to Machu Picchu by bus that starts very early (5:00 am).Ascent to the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu
We prepare to begin our ascent to Machu Picchu. This will be a one-hour and 40-minute hike to reach Machu Picchu. You also have the option of taking a bus up to the archaeological site of Machu Picchu (25 minutes cost US$ 12). The first bus leaves at 5:30 am. Upon arriving at the gate of Machu Picchu, we will meet with the guide and the group to begin the tour. We will spend approximately two and a half to three hours walking and receiving information from our guide. This guided tour of Machu Picchu will cover the main parts of the citadel, places of great importance such as the Temple of the Sun, the House of the Inca, the Water Mirrors Zone, the Temple of the Condor, the main plaza, Intiwatana, and others. Throughout the tour, you will have time to take photos and explore Machu Picchu on your own until 11:00 am (total stay in the park 3 to 4 hours).What's included?
- Informational talk: The day before the tour, we’ll provide you with relevant information and all the necessary tickets. This talk will be held at your hotel or in the historic city center with the GO MAPI team.
- Tourist transportation: Cusco – Hidroeléctrica – Cusco. Our vehicles are minibuses for 15 or 19 passengers, all equipped with first aid kits (Renault – Master or Mercedes Benz – Sprinter).
- Food: 01 Lunch, 01 Dinner (Day 1) are served in Tourist Restaurants and 01 Breakfast (Day 2) served at the Accommodation.
- Accommodation: We offer private rooms with bathroom, hot shower among others.

What is not included?
- Food not mentioned: First breakfast in Cusco, which can be purchased in the city, and last lunch (2nd day), which is easy to get at Hidroeléctrica.
- Train Option: Hidroeléctrica – Aguas Calientes – Hidroeléctrica (5 soles each way for Peruvians, US$ 20 for foreigners) the group will walk.
- Bus Option: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Aguas Calientes (8 soles each way, US$ 12 for foreigners) the group will walk.
