SUPER SACRED VALLEY OF THE INCAS, MORAY AND SALT MINES
About the Tour
We begin the experience with pickup from your hotel between 6:30 and 7:00 am. Once the entire group is assembled, we will depart north. Our first visit will be to Chinchero, a picturesque town where we will see agricultural terraces, the remains of the royal estate of Túpac Inca Yupanqui, and the beautiful colonial temple built on the foundations of an Inca building. We will also observe the entire wool process, from washing and spinning to becoming beautiful textiles. Continuing our tour, we will arrive at Moray, where we will observe several natural holes that were once terraces for agricultural experiments. We will then continue to the Maras Salt Mines, where we will observe the natural process of salt extraction dating back to the time of the Incas. We will then head to the Ollantaytambo Fortress, built to guard the entrance to this part of the valley and protect it from possible invasions by jungle dwellers. Upon completion, we return to the bus and head to the town of Urubamba, where we’ll have a buffet lunch. After lunch, we’ll head to the town of Pisac, where we’ll visit the Pisac Archaeological Complex, built during the Inca Pachacutec era. Its location is strategic, as it sits atop a mountain, affording a view of the entire valley that led to Antisuyo. At the end of the tour, we’ll return to Cusco, arriving at approximately 7:00 pm after a full day of history, culture, and unforgettable landscapes.
